FNB Cellphone Banking makes its first LOTTO millionaire
This past Saturday an FNB customer won the LOTTO jackpot (draw 910) by purchasing a LOTTO ticket via FNB’s Cellphone Banking. The jackpot paid out more than R2 million.
“The uptake of LOTTO on our electronic banking channels has exceeded our expectations,” says Len Pienaar, CEO of First National Bank (FNB) mCommerce.
Since the launch of banked-based electronic channels to buy LOTTO tickets little more than a month ago, more than R1 million worth of winnings has been paid directly into FNB customers’ accounts. Purchases of LOTTO tickets have been available via FNB Cellphone Banking, FNB Online Banking and selected FNB ATMs.
FNB facilitates the payment of LOTTO winnings of up to R50 000. Winnings are automatically paid into the customer`s FNB account within 48 hours. This method of paying winnings is convenient for customers as they don’t have to travel to claim winnings. It`s also safe, as there is no need to carry cash and no risk of losing tickets or possible winning numbers since all payouts are done electronically.
“Throughout the implementation of the virtual LOTTO ticketing process our focus has been to ensure that our systems remain secure, accessible to consumers and are easy to use,” says Pienaar.
