R15-MILLION LOTTO WINNER TO DONATE R2 MILLION OF HIS WINNINGS TO CHARITY AND CHURCH
A children’s home in Cape Town is one of two recipients that will benefit from the generosity of last week’s winner of the R15-million LOTTO Jackpot.
The 41- year old man, who works as a supervisor, says the children’s home and his local church have been such an inspiration to him that he would be honoured to contribute R2 million towards “the remarkable work that they do”.
“I plan to contact them to get a sense of how I can be of assistance to them,” said the winner who came forward this morning to claim his prize.
National Lottery Operator Gidani spokesperson Thembi Tulwana said it was very inspiring to come across winners that take interest in their communities.
“Our mandate as the National Lottery Operator is to raise money for Good Causes and to be an engine for social development. It is through acts of people such as this winner that communities can develop and prosper in the fight against the many socio-economic challenges that we are faced with,” said Tulwana.
The winner’s dream of clinching a lottery jackpot came true last Wednesday when his selection of family members’ ages produced a winning combination.
Although the winner is undecided about celebrating his windfall, his priorities are clear – he wants to pay off his debt and buy himself and his fiancée a new car and a house.
The regular player of LOTTO and PowerBall, who likes spending his spare time over a drink and braai with friends, has no intention of leaving his job or changing the way he leads his life.
To date, Gidani has availed R3, 45 billion to the National Lottery Distribution Fund towards allocation to deserving causes.
