SOUTH Africa’s soccer legend Jomo Sono will set a different kind of ball rolling tomorrow night as the draw guest on PowerBall’s live draw.

The Jackpot is estimated at a sizzling R15 million.

National Lottery Operator Gidani spokesperson Thembi Tulwana said it was an honour to have a draw guest of Sono’s calibre especially as the country eagerly awaits the beginning of the first FIFA World Cup to be held on the African continent.

“With only 73 days to go before the FIFA World Cup starts, tomorrow’s Jackpot could make the World Cup even more enjoyable for whoever manages to match all the winning numbers,” said Tulwana.
Sono, who has an impeccable record as a soccer player, is credited with recruiting some of the most successful players for the South African National Soccer Squad (Bafana Bafana) which went on to win the African Cup of Nations in 1996. Philemon Masinga, Helman Mkhalele, late Sizwe Motaung and Mark Fish are some of the players whom Sono recruited and went on to play for the national team and overseas teams.
In 1998 he led Bafana Bafana to a second position in the African Cup of Nations held in Burkina Faso and was the head coach of the national team in 2002 world cup in Japan/South Korea.
Sono is also a reputable businessman who has taken pride in developing players and availing them to overseas teams.
